Patricia Woodruff once said, “the airport is the only place you can walk around with no shoes, a glazed look on your face, and sleep on the benches and no one judges you.” This statement sums up what the airport is: a place of arrivals and departures, between these two moments, many things happen which makes the airport the perfect place to observe some of the most interesting and bizarre events captured on camera.
1. Just A Little Nap
When you feel tired, the right thing to do is rest. But that can be a problem if you are waiting to catch a flight and there is no soft bed or long sofa to nap in. don’t worry much though, you can always improvise with airport seats, like the woman in this picture.
While this is not the best position to sleep in and she may end up body ache after waking up, at least she got the much-needed sleep. This picture shows how much the body reacts to basic needs regardless of how comfortable it is.
2. Welcome Home Mommy
Airport pickup signs are a lovely thing to behold, especially when you are new in the city or returning home after a long trip, like the woman these signs are up for who on her return to Toronto from Rotterdam came to find out the sign her daughter was holding up was, to say the least, unexpected.
We can imagine the looks on the faces of the travelers and how the mother must have felt on spotting the sign – joy mixed with embarrassment. It is definitely a prank to remember.
3. Bad Santa
It is not every day you see Santa in cuffs; this is one of those very rare days. He is supposed to be on a sleigh pulled by reindeers going around the world at magical speed delivering presents, but that is not the case here.
You are probably wondering what the passengers must be thinking too, what could Santa do to get in trouble. Maybe he is carrying some mischievous gifts with him, either way, children are watching.
4. Too Tired For This Flight
Here is one of the most hilarious things you will only find in the airport. This girl is either having the ride of her life, or she is just too tired to be bothered about walking another step after only God knows how many miles her small feet have covered.
The father is also handling it well as he appears comfortable just dragging her along. This is another example of how travelers can use exceptional improvising skills in the airport, who knew suitcases have a space on the outside too.
5. Birds On Flight
Birds are on flight. That statement will not mean much to you until you see the picture of a Saudi Prince who transported 80 falcons to the United Arab Emirates with Etihad Airways. What is he going to use 80 falcons for you ask, the answer is Falconry, a popular sport in the middle east.
The idea of flying birds with an airplane is not so strange in the Middle East as you think, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways allow birds to travel between Middle Eastern countries. Six is the maximum number of birds allowed unless you are top shot Prince who has the reputation and the money needed to bend the rules.
6. I Skipped The Parking Memo
If you think flying is all the skill a pilot needs, this picture will convince you that parking skills are important as well. Maybe you don’t need to know how to park to fly across the Atlantic, but you sure need it to avoid what you’re seeing in this picture.
We wonder what could have led to this. Perhaps the pilot left the engine running while he went to answer the call of nature, perhaps he or she was a little sleepy or even worse, drunk. Whatever the reason, we are starting to doubt his or her flying skills too.
7. Scan The Baby
Airport security checks are as tough as it gets in air travel, and this mother is here battling with it. It requires removing items like belts, shoes, and jewelry to pass through. This woman is pictured untying her shoelaces.
8. Kissing Booth
Imagine someone putting a limit on how much love and affection you can show, that sounds so unfair and weird. Especially in an airport where all emotions run high, and people are always open to publically expressing how show they feel.
But this is what we found at Aalborg Airport in Denmark. A limit on how long you can kiss someone goodbye. In case you are thinking of starting a revolution and going against the norm, this is a perfect spot to start.
9. Do You Want To Log Out?
Always log out when you use a public computer, or who knows what will come out of it, maybe something as harmless as this prank on Jasmine who used the computer at the Newcastle International Airport to log in her Facebook account and forgot to log out.
